Corrupt practices pose a serious risk to the sustainability of business and society. Corruption is incompatible with DNV's values, and involvement in any form of corruption or bribery by any member of DNV is unacceptable and prohibited. DNV has developed anti-corruption instructions in line with international recommendations and the guidelines of Transparency International.
DNV Code of Ethics:
We never compromise on our integrity. To preserve our integrity and reliability we:
- are honest, law-abiding and respect fundamental human rights
- do not act in any way that can lead to dependence on other parties and thereby hamper integrity and impartiality
- will not disclose information which is entrusted to us as being confidential,
- will not give or receive any gifts or other benefits which may be perceived as influencing our impartiality or business behavior
- will not use confidential information for personal benefit
- will only use subcontractors that share our ethical values.
DNV is currently present in countries where human rights are violated and the personal safety and security of individuals are threatened. New instructions and guidelines for business engagement in these areas have been developed.
Employees must be provided with the information and tools they need in order to act responsibly and in accordance with DNV's Code of Ethics and anti-corruption instructions. CSR is therefore an important part of DNV's induction and management training programs and dilemma training workshops.
Ombudsman
Instructions and codes can not cover every workplace situation and situations that involve ethics and values are often complex. DNV has therefore an Ombudsman to give all employees a trusted route to voice ethical concerns. All contacts are recorded and treated confidentially and there are no reasons for fear of reprisal.
